The Tasmanian Liberal Government is working hard to allow Tasmanians to return to the way of life that they know and enjoy.
I am delighted to announce that the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens will re-open to the Hobart public from next Monday, 11 May.
The easing of some restrictions means health and wellbeing activities can be undertaken in green spaces, including the famed Botanical Gardens, on the proviso that those visiting are from no further than 30 kilometres from their place of residence.
Residents visiting the Botanical Gardens for exercise must continue to observe social distancing rules, and move on once they have completed their exercise. If nearby carparks are full, then you should move on and return at another time.
As part of its re-opening, limited public facilities will be available at the Gardens with only the toilet facilities open.
Those visiting the Botanical Gardens will notice quite a bit of work underway around the site.
These works are a result of the Botanical Gardens receiving more than $300,000 through the Tasmanian Liberal Government's Public Building Maintenance Fund, a stimulus package announced in response to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The funding has enabled the Gardens to undertake much-needed works on heritage buildings and iconic collections, as well as projects to support work health and safety compliance.
