Following the unexpected death of Steve Douglas, Fiona MacGregor expressed her condolences:
I was shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden death of Steve Douglas.
Steve was a former CEO of the Housing Corporation and is remembered with real respect and affection. He was a huge and influential figure in the social housing sector who constantly championed diversity in the sector and had a long-standing commitment to relieving homelessness.
Steve was always focused and often formidable, matching this with huge integrity, great kindness and a fantastic sense of humour. He will be very sorely missed across the housing sector.
I extend my condolences, and those of everyone at the Regulator of Social Housing, to his partner and sons and to his many friends and colleagues.
