The NSW government has been advised that RSL NSW president Mick Bainbridge and directors Paul James, Phillip Chin and Dr Charles New OAM have resigned from the RSL Board today.
The Government notes that Mr Bainbridge, Mr James and Dr New have served on the board since 2023 and Mr Chin since 2017.
The Government also notes that all four are veterans and we thank them for their service.
While the RSL operates independently of government and internal affairs are a matter for RSL, the Government is seeking further information and advice about the issues raised by the outgoing members.
Today the Minister for Veterans will write to RSL NSW requesting information on what steps the board will be taking to continue operating given they no longer have quorum on their board.
The NSW Government stands with the almost 130,000 veterans and their families who call our state home.
RSL NSW is an important organisation supporting the wellbeing of veterans and their families and the Government wants to see it operate with the highest standards of integrity and governance.
