Six arrested over Fairfield East murder, NSW

Homicide Squad detectives have today arrested six men in relation to the death of a man who was assaulted and stabbed on a public street in Sydney’s south-west in December last year, NSW Police say.

Emergency services were called to Belmore Street, Fairfield East, following reports of a man being assaulted and stabbed at the location about 4.10pm on Sunday 6 December 2015.

Tu Luong, 35, suffered numerous injuries and was rushed to Liverpool Hospital but died a short time later.

The Homicide Squad established Strike Force Guntawong and has been investigating the incident with the assistance of Fairfield Local Area Command.

From 6.30am today, Homicide Squad detectives were assisted by the Tactical Operation Unit, South West Metropolitan detectives and Region Enforcement Squad officers to execute five search warrants at Casula, Liverpool, Fairfield East and Smithfield.

Five men, aged between 32 and 38, were been arrested and remain in police custody. They are each expected to be charged with murder.

A sixth man, aged 36, was arrested in the Australian Capital Territory by ACT Policing on a warrant for the offence of murder.

NSW Homicide Squad detectives are expected to apply for the man’s extradition back to NSW.
