Sackings Loom Amid Ongoing Liberal Waste

Sackings on the table while Liberal waste continues

Eric Abetz has failed to rule out forced redundancies as he cuts 250 jobs from State Growth to pay down 13 years of Liberal waste.

To rub salt into the wounds of every employee set to lose their job, at the same time Mr Abetz is running a knife through the department the Liberals are splashing out nearly $100,000 to pay a basketball coach to be an ambassador.

The contract was deliberately kept under the $100,000 threshold so it could be hand-picked without open tender, and the Government still can't point to any KPIs, reporting requirements or deliverables in exchange for the cash.

Minister Howlett today said the contract was approved before the Liberals started gutting State Growth.

However the tender website shows it wasn't awarded until 1 April, nearly an entire month after Premier Rockliff announced he'd put Eric Abetz in charge of cutting 250 jobs.

After 13 years of Liberal waste, Tasmanians are paying the price through cuts to jobs and essential services.

Tasmanians are being told nearly 3,000 public sector jobs must be axed, yet somehow Premier Rockliff and Eric Abetz can still find nearly $100,000 for a vague brand ambassador contract with no deliverables.
