Assistant Minister for Customs, Community Safety and Multicultural Affairs, the Hon Jason Wood MP, today announced six projects will share $15 million in funding as part of the Safer Communities Fund round five early intervention stream grants.
These grants provide state and territory peak Police Citizen's Youth Clubs, Bluelight organisations and Youth Off the Streets with funding of up to $3 million. The grants help these organisations to address crime and anti-social behaviour by providing funding to deliver local crime prevention activities and other initiatives in Australian communities.
"The Safer Communities Fund is delivering on the Government's commitment to keep young people in our communities safe and ensure they have somewhere to go to help them in reaching their full potential," Assistant Minister Wood said.
"Many of the support programs in local communities have been impacted by COVID-19. This funding will assist these organisations to continue the good work they are already doing, as well as implementing new initiatives."
The six projects to share in the available funding are:
- Youth Off The Streets Limited
- Queensland Blue Light Association Incorporated
- Police Citizens Youth Clubs NSW Ltd
- Blue Light Victoria Incorporated
- The Federation of Western Australian Police and Community Youth Centres Inc
- Queensland Police-Citizens Youth Welfare Association.
