The Crisafulli Government is helping get Queenslanders in the Scenic Rim home sooner and safer, with safety improvements on the Mount Lindesay Highway at Palen Creek now complete.
The project delivers another practical upgrade on the Mount Lindesay Highway to reduce risk and increase reliability, on an important corridor connecting local communities, freight operators, businesses and visitors.
While Labor spent a decade failing to adequately plan for the future of South East Queensland's growing regional communities, the Crisafulli Government is getting on with the job of delivering the practical road upgrades needed to improve safety and keep Queenslanders moving.
The works focused on a curved section of highway south of the Pine Vale Road intersection, where the road was widened and the pavement regraded and resurfaced to improve vehicle handling and safety.
Additional upgrades included the installation of a new guardrail barrier with motorcycle safety rubrail, vegetation clearing, embankment improvements to increase sight distance, upgraded drainage and new high-visibility road signage.
Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg said the completed works would deliver long-term safety benefits for motorists travelling through the region.
"The Mount Lindesay Highway is a critical route for local communities, freight operators and visitors travelling through the Scenic Rim, and these improvements will make this section of road safer and easier to navigate," Minister Mickelberg said.
"By widening the roadway, improving visibility and upgrading roadside safety features, we're reducing risks for motorists and delivering a safer journey on this important corridor. The Crisafulli Government is committed to investing in practical upgrades that improve safety, reliability and resilience on Queensland roads."
Member for Scenic Rim Jon Krause said the project delivered an important safety improvement for local road users.
"Local residents know how important the Mount Lindesay Highway is to our region, and they'll welcome these upgrades which will make travel safer for everyone who uses this road every day," Mr Krause said.
"This is exactly the type of practical infrastructure investment our growing communities need. These improvements will help reduce risks, improve driving conditions and ensure the highway can continue supporting local families, businesses and freight operators well into the future."
