Sailor Assigned to Kings Bay Unit Dies of COVID-Related Complications

A Sailor assigned to USS Tennessee (SSBN 734) died as a result of COVID-related complications Feb. 4.

A Sailor assigned to USS Tennessee (SSBN 734) died as a result of COVID-related complications Feb. 4.

The Sailor was admitted to the Naval Air Station Jacksonville Hospital Saturday, Jan. 30, and transferred to University of Florida Hospital Shands Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Jacksonville Sunday, Jan. 31, where the Sailor subsequently tested positive for COVID-19. The Sailor was in the ICU at the time of death.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, shipmates and friends of the Sailor during this extremely difficult time.

The name of the Sailor is being withheld until 24 hours after next-of-kin notification.
