Sailor Assigned to Virginia Beach Command Dies of COVID-Related Complications

On Feb. 22 a U.S. Navy Sailor assigned to Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 4 based at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek, Va. died as a result of COVID-related complications.

On Feb. 22 a U.S. Navy Sailor assigned to Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 4 based at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek, Va. died as a result of COVID-related complications.

The Sailor tested positive for COVID-19 on Feb. 19 and was admitted to Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk on Feb. 20. Sailors who were in contact with the Sailor have been notified and are taking the appropriate precautions.

We mourn the loss of our shipmate; our thoughts and prayers are with the Sailor's family, friends and coworkers during this difficult time.

The name of the Sailor is being withheld until 24 hours after next-of-kin notification.
