Sailors stay dry thanks to advocacy success

Black Rock Yacht Club sailors will have a new clubhouse roof courtesy of Council's advocacy and the Australian Government's Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.

Local Federal MP, Tim Wilson announced the $400,000 grant along with Lara Blasse, Commodore Black Rock Yacht Club and Bayside Mayor, Cr Laurence Evans OAM last week.

Cr Evans said the grant success was a fantastic example of Council and the community working together to advocate to the Australian Government.

"We are delighted that we have been able to secure funding for the Black Rock Yacht Club roof," Cr Evans said. "Council is very appreciative of the support of the Australian Government for this important community recreation facility."

The new roof is much needed according to Ms Blasse, with the extreme coastal weather taking its toll on the existing structure.
