With major winter events like Dark Mofo and Festival of Voices now wrapped up, and amidst the quiet days of winter, the City of Hobart in conjunction with Salamanca Market is encouraging locals to return to Salamanca Market and rediscover the magic of Tasmania's most iconic and most visited tourism attraction.
The City has launched a vibrant new winter campaign to support stallholders and celebrate the uniqueness of Salamanca Market—a beloved local attraction that welcomes almost 800,000 visitors annually and contributes up to $75 million to the local economy.
With over 388 stallholders and up to 336 trading each Saturday, the market features everything from fresh produce and flowers to local handmade jewellery, skincare, street food, warm winter clothing, and locally crafted wines and spirits, and much more.
The campaign features fast-paced, visually rich advertisements that highlight the market's sensory appeal and diversity. It will run across television, Hobart Airport, city car park screens, and social media platforms, targeting both local and interstate audiences.
The City has also invested in a refresh of the market's branding, including a bright new information booth, updated signage, and new maps and brochures—all aimed at enhancing the visitor experience and supporting the market's continued success.
According to the 2023 SGS Salamanca Economic and Market Research Report, 70% of visitors said Salamanca Market influenced their decision to visit Hobart, with 36% citing it as a major reason.
