Saltwater Crocodile Risk Management Framework

NT Government

The Territory Labor Government has today released a Saltwater Crocodile Risk Management Framework.

The framework outlines the NT's approach to crocodile management and public education aimed at reducing problem human/crocodile interactions.

It also provides valuable information to the community around the high levels of risk that remain in the environment, even with a crocodile management program in place.

The framework is in place to:

· Reduce the likelihood of a crocodile attack

· Warn the community of potential presence of crocodiles

· Educate the community about safe behaviour around waterways

· Reduce the number of saltwater crocodiles entering areas where they could come into contact with people

The data and safety information has been compiled in one place that's easily accessible for the community, with readers able to track crocodile catchments over time, learn about the general management and removal zones and recognise the importance of stakeholder engagement.
