Sano Taskforce extradite man on historical sex offences

Sano Taskforce detectives with the assistance of Queensland Police have arrested a 72-year-old Rockhampton man in relation to historical sex offences, Victoria Police say.

The former Victorian resident was arrested in the Brisbane suburb of Spring Hill about 11.05am on Tuesday 2 October.

He has been charged with 32 historic offences including rape and indecent assault.

It’s understood the man was working and living in Western Victoria between 1980-1982.

The victims were teenage boys at the time of the incidents.

The man will be extradited back to Victoria today and will be remanded to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 4 October.

The Sano Taskforce detectives specialise in investigating historical sexual assault and child abuse matters.

Victoria Police encourages all victims of sexual assault and child abuse, and anyone who has knowledge of such a crime, to make a report.
