Santa's Boulevard to go ahead this weekend

The 2020 NF McDonnell and Sons Santa's Boulevard drive through Christmas display will go ahead at Blue Lake Sports Park on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November 2020 between 7:00pm and 10:00pm.

The modified event will be held instead of the annual Christmas Parade to comply with COVID-19 restrictions and will feature a sea of twinkling lights, decorations, Christmas music and 15 static floats, including Santa to get people into the festive spirit.

"A COVID Safe Plan approved by SA Health is in place for this event," City of Mount Gambier Acting CEO Barbara Cernovskis said.

"People will be confined to their vehicle as they drive through Blue Lake Sports Park to view the Christmas display. Council will manage volunteer support to ensure the event runs smoothly in accordance with the COVID Safe Plan and the physical and density restrictions that apply to us all."

Ms Cernovskis said the community will play a large role in the success of the event.

In the spirit of Christmas, we ask that everybody play their part by remaining in their vehicles at all times to share in this special community Christmas experience.

"The event will run over two nights so that we can all enjoy the festive display. The key to its success is people doing the right thing and following the directions of staff and volunteers at the event."

"Please be patient if there is a line up to enter Blue Lake Sports Park and be mindful of the road closures in the area," Ms Cernovskis said.
