Mark your calendars for a day full of entertainment and fun at the Exercise Talisman Sabre 25 Community Day on Saturday 2 August 2025.
The family-friendly day out is a thank you to the Townsville community for their patience and support during Exercise Talisman Sabre 25.
The biennial exercise is the largest exercise conducted in Australia and will include participants from 19 nations this year.
Townsville Acting Mayor Ann-Maree Greaney said the event featured captivating military assets, performances and displays.
"Exercise Talisman Sabre is Australia's biggest military exercise and strengthens Townsville's reputation as a key defence hub, showcasing our capacity to host large-scale international events," Cr Greaney said.
"Our Exercise Talisman Sabre 25 Community Day will include displays of military vehicles, camouflage face painting and performances from 1 RAR Band and 3 RAR Pipes and Drums for visitors to enjoy, as well as food trucks and children's rides.
"This event is our way of coming together with the Australian Defence Force and international participants to thank Townsville residents for their accommodation of increased military activities across the region during the exercise."
Commander 3rd Brigade Brigadier Ben McLennan said the event is an opportunity for the ADF to say thank you to the Townsville and broader North Queensland community, for their vital and unwavering support during Exercise Talisman Sabre 2025.
"Our role is to be prepared for war, but we simply cannot do that without the support of the local community: government, civil, health and emergency services, our port, airport, sporting teams, private businesses, defence industry, veterans, mums and dads, boys and girls," Brigadier McLennan said.
"The sum of this support allows us to rehearse, remain ready, enhance relationships with our partners and allies and demonstrate our capability and commitment.
"It's important that we have an opportunity to say thank you, to express our gratitude, to the community who does so much for us."
Exercise Talisman Sabre 25 Community Day will run from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 2 August 2025 at Riverway Precinct. Entry is free.
