Scooter rider critical after crash at Wollongong

A motorised scooter rider is in a critical condition following a crash in Wollongong earlier today.

About 9am (Tuesday 2 March 2021), emergency services were called to the corner of Kembla and Campbell Street, Wollongong, following reports of a crash between a motorised scooter and Mitsubishi Lancer.

Officers from Wollongong Police District attended and commenced inquiries.

The male rider, believed to be aged in his early 40s, was taken to Wollongong Hospital with suspected head injuries. He remains in a critical condition.

The driver, a 37-year-old man, was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Both vehicles have been seized for forensic examination.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing for anyone with dash cam footage to come forward.
