Search and rescue in Bogie (Whitsundays), QLD

Police are coordinating a search and rescue effort after a ute was washed off a road in Bogie (Whitsundays)

Around 8am, police received a call from the mother of one of the ute’s occupants to say water was rising around the ute on Tondara Road.

It appears the ute – with five people inside – was then swept off the road.

Initial information indicates that they managed to get out of the ute but are now stranded.

A helicopter was dispatched from Townsville a short time ago to assist with the search and rescue effort, as police cannot reach the site by road due to flooding.

There is no further information available at this time.
