Search and rescue in Kuranda, QLD

Police are currently coordinating a search and rescue operation to locate a 38-year-old man missing in rainforest around Kuranda, Queensland Police say.

The man was reported missing to police yesterday morning after failing to return from a bushwalk on November 12.

Police hold concerns for his welfare as it believed he has no access to food or water and is not wearing proper clothing for the terrain.

The search and rescue operation was commenced yesterday however an extensive air and land search of the area failed to locate the missing man.

The search recommenced at first light this morning at 7.00am with police and personnel from the State Emergency Service conducting a land search of the area.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, is of a slim build with blue eyes and was last seen wearing an orange or yellow short sleeved button up shirt, dark coloured shorts and black thongs.
