Search and rescue, Mount Bartle Frere

Police and other emergency services will return to Mount Bartle Frere tomorrow to escort a stranded climber from the summit, Queensland Police say.

At around 11.20am a 31-year-old Toowoomba man contacted Triple 0 for assistance after hiking up the mountain and being unable to return due to poor weather.

A rescue helicopter was called in to assist however could not land safely on the summit due to the weather conditions.

A rescue team has been established to commence a walk up the mountain tomorrow at 6am to escort the man to safety.

Authorities  remain in phone contact with the man.
