Search And Rescue Operation At Bargara

A search and rescue operation has commenced following reports a swimmer had gone missing in the surf at Bargara yesterday evening, 29 October.

Emergency services were called to Woongarra Scenic Drive by members of the public around 5.50pm, following reports a swimmer, described as a Caucasian male with a bald head, had not resurfaced.

The operation was suspended at 10pm last night and will resume at 6am today, 30 October, with support from specialist officers, Surf Lifesaving Queensland (SLSQ), State Emergency Service (SES), Volunteer Marine Rescue (VMR), and LifeFlight.

Anyone with information that could assist is urged to contact police.

There are no current missing persons reported.
