Search for intruder at Unley home, South Australia

Police are currently searching the south parklands following a break-in at Unley in the early hours of this morning.

An elderly woman awoke to noises inside her Unley home just before 5am on Tuesday 9 April. She saw a man inside her house and she fled out the front door to a nearby service station to ask them to contact police.

A garbage truck driver at the service station walked the victim back to her home and spotted the suspect leaving the house.

Police attended and found the screens had been removed from windows and the back door had been forced open. The suspect had taken food and milk from the fridge.

The suspect is described as a man aged in his late 40s, with a grey beard a few inches long, wearing a hoodie and dark clothing. He was last seen heading towards Greenhill Road.

Police are searching the south parklands with the assistance of Police Dog Nero, but so far, have not located the intruder.
