Search for missing bushwalkers, NSW

Police are coordinating a search for two missing bushwalkers in the Blue Mountains, NSW Police say.

The pair, a 65-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman, intended to set off on a walk from Blaxland through bushland along the Florabella Pass today.

The couple left their Strathfield home around 7.45am and travelled to the Blue Mountains by train. The walk should have taken the pair around three hours.

They were reported missing by concerned relatives and police from Blue Mountains Local Area Command are conducting a search of the area this evening.

The search involves local police, Blue Mountains police rescue, NSW Ambulance paramedics and a Ambulance rescue helicopter, who are focussing on the area.

Police are concerned as they don’t believe the couple was prepared for an overnight stay.
