Search for tradie's missing ute and tools

Mordialloc Police are investigating the theft of a tradie's vehicle with a dog on board from Mentone yesterday morning.

Police have been told a silver Holden Colorado utility, with the victim's dog on board, was stolen from Cedar Street about 9.30am.

The owner had left the vehicle for about five minutes and when he returned, realised it had been stolen.

The dog, a border collie named Medusa, fell from the vehicle on Derwent Road and was taken to a local vet and pound before being returned to the owner.

The dog was uninjured in the incident.

Police are still searching for the vehicle, registration 1MQ 8LB, that was last seen at the corner of Derwent St and Glenelg Road.

The vehicle had more than $3000 of tools on board as well as a fridge.

Police are keen to speak to any witnesses and are appealing for dash-cam footage from anyone who may have been travelling in the area at the time.
