Search in Far North for missing man, South Australia

Police are currently searching for a missing man in the State's far north.

Police were first alerted to a man and a woman missing near Finniss Springs south of Callanna around 2.30pm yesterday (Sunday 27 February), after family were unable to contact them.

Family travelled to the area while local police assisted with a search which was intensified today with a ground and air search utilising local police, PolAir and local station owners.

It is believed the pair separated when their 4WD became bogged near Junction Dam on Stuart Creek Station (about 90km north of Roxby Downs) on Saturday 26 February. The man rode off on a motor bike to seek assistance while the woman remained with the 4WD. After waiting several hours for his return, the woman left the 4WD on foot and was located around 1.15pm today from the air in a creek line about 100km north of Roxby Downs. Rescuers made their way to the woman who was taken to Roxby Downs Hospital where is being treated for dehydration.

PolAir and a fixed wing aircraft are planning to continue searching for the man until around 10pm tonight.

At this time, the search expected to resume tomorrow around first light.
