Search resumes for missing man at Iluka

A multi-agency search has resumed this morning after a man was reported missing in waters on the north coast yesterday.

Around 1pm (Thursday 19 May 2022), emergency services were called to Iluka Bay, near Yamba, after reports of a man missing from a vessel.

Police have been told the man – who resides on the vessel – jumped overboard to retrieve a smaller vessel which had gone adrift, however he failed to resurface.

Officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District responded – with assistance from the Marine Area Command, police divers, Westpac Rescue Helicopter, Marine Rescue, and Surf Lifesaving NSW.

The search was scaled back shortly before midnight yesterday, with the operation recommencing this morning (Friday 20 May 2022).
