Search to resume for missing kayaker

A search will resume this morning for a man presumed missing while kayaking on the Central Coast yesterday.

About 8.30pm (Tuesday 31 December 2019, emergency services received reports a group of people kayaking on Budgewoi Lake at Toukley, had got in to trouble.

Police have been told the group set out about 7.45pm and were unable to return to shore when conditions worsened on the water.

A search operation was commenced by officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Police District, with the assistance of the Marine Area Command, Marine Rescue, Roads and Maritime Services and Polair.

Two kayakers were rescued 500m south of the Buff Point reserve. A third kayaker was unable to be located.

The search will resume this morning with the assistance of local police, Polair, and Roads and Maritime Services.
