Search to resume for two bushwalkers missing in Blue Mountains

A search will resume this morning for two elderly missing bushwalkers in the Blue Mountains area.

The men aged 69 and 81 are believed to have commenced a bushwalk from Dunphy's campground in the Megalong Valley on Wednesday 15 February 2023, telling a friend they intended to return on Friday 17 February 2023.

When the 69-year-old man failed to keep an appointment on Sunday 19 February 2023, officers from the Blue Mountains Police Area Command were notified and commenced a search for the missing men.

Police have located a car belonging to the missing 81-year-old man in the car park of Dunphy's campground.

Both men are described as regular and experienced bushwalkers and police believe activity of this nature would have been within their capabilities.

A Command Post has been established and a co-ordinated multi-agency searching party involving officers from the Blue Mountains PAC, Rescue Squad, SES Bush Search and Rescue will resume this morning at 7.00am.
