Second escapee charged in Young

Police have charged a second man today after he allegedly escaped from a minimum-security correctional facility in the state’s Riverina area, NSW Police say.

Police will allege two men escaped from Mannus Correctional Centre on Thursday 16 November 2017.

A 37-year-old man was arrested and charged in Mt Druitt yesterday (Sunday 26 November 2017). He remains before the courts.

About 1pm today (Monday 27 November 2017), officers attached to Cootamundra Local Area Command arrested a 23-year-old man at a property in Young.

He was taken to Young Police Station where he was charged with inmate escape from lawful custody, drive conveyance without consent, carried in a conveyance, negligent driving, and unaccompanied learner.

The man was refused bail and is due to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 28 November 2017).

He will be returned to the custody of Corrective Services NSW.
