Second man charged following robbery, car jackings and pursuits in Nowra

A second man has been charged after an armed robbery, car jackings and police pursuits in the Shoalhaven area this week, NSW Police say.

Just before 5pm on Tuesday (12 December 2017), officers from Shoalhaven Local Area Command attended a jewellery store in Owen Street, Huskisson, following reports it had been robbed.

Officers were told three men armed with firearm assaulted the store owner and stole cash and jewellery before escaping in an alleged stolen car. This was located nearby a short time later.

It is then alleged the men car jacked two cars, with a woman injured during one of the incidents. She was taken to hospital.

Officers undertook extensive patrols in an effort to locate the men and initiated a pursuit of a car on Jervis Bay Road which was terminated due to the manner of driving.

An officer approached the car at Tomerong a short time later as the three men exited the vehicle, still armed with the firearm. They fled into bushland.

A major search of the surrounding area commenced, involving local police, the State Protection Support Unit, Tactical Operations Unit, Dog Unit, Police Rescue and other resources

About 12.45am (Wednesday 13 December 2017), police located and tried to stop a vehicle, pursuing the car to Nowra where the men again fled on foot.

On Wednesday (13 December 2017), police charged a 37-year-old man in relation to the incident. He remains before the courts and is next due to appear at Central Local Court on Thursday 8 February 2018.

Following investigations, last night (Saturday 16 December 2017), a 29-year-old was arrested on Lindesay Street, Campbelltown by officers from the State Crime Commands Robbery and Serious Crime Squad.

He was taken to Campbelltown Police Station and charged with numerous offences, including;

- Aggravated break, enter & steal (x2),

- Take & drive conveyance (x2),

- Robbery whilst armed with dangerous weapon,

- Aggravated assault with intent to take & drive in company (x2),

- Destroy property in company by fire,

- Use Weapon to avoid apprehension,

- Steal motor vehicle,

- Carried in conveyance (x2), and

- Outstanding warrants

The man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 17 December 2017).

Officers are continuing to search for a third man and are asking anyone with information about their whereabouts to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
