Second man charged with murder following disappearance of Albanvale man

Missing Persons Squad detectives have charged a second man today following the disappearance of 30-year-old Albanvale man David Whimpey, Victoria Police say.

David Whimpey was last seen seen about 10pm near a hotel on the Old Calder Highway in Keilor on 23 October 2016.

His body was located in a barrel at a property on Valley Road in Mia Mia near Lake Eppaloch on Monday 24 April.

Detectives are keen to speak to anyone that may have seen a silver 2009 Subaru Impreza travelling quickly along the Heathcote-Kyneton Road on the morning of Monday 24 October 2016.

An image of a similar silver Impreza has been released in the hope someone may recognise it.

A 31-year-old St Albans man was charged and remanded with one count of murder last week.

The second man, a 46-year-old Sunshine man has been charged with one count of murder.

They will both appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
