The Australian War Memorial development project has progressed to the next stage of consultation under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act referral process, after the second phase of consultation was approved for release by the Department of Agriculture, Water and Environment (DAWE).
A second consultation phase will focus on the environmental and heritage impacts of the Memorial's Development Project plans. This next phase will take place from Friday 3 July 2020 and closing at 5pm AEST on Friday 31 July 2020.
DAWE has advised the project will be assessed by preliminary documentation which is available to view on the Memorial's website: https://www.awm.gov.au/ourcontinuingstory/ourplans.
The Memorial encourages the public to submit feedback to the preliminary documentation.
The original referral documentation covered the new Anzac Hall and glazed link and the new southern entrance. Since this referral, the Memorial has included additional development project components as part of a variation: C.E.W. Bean Building extension and refurbishment; C.E.W. Bean Research Centre; and public realm improvement works.
