Second teenager charged with aggravated assault of woman at Tamworth

A second boy has been charged after an elderly woman was indecently assaulted in her home yesterday.

About 5.10am (Wednesday 19 June 2019), an 82-year-old woman was in her Tamworth home, when two young males entered the home.

They stole an amount of cash from the woman, as well as a tablet device.

It is alleged the woman as then indecently assaulted by the males.

The woman sounded an alarm and the youths fled. Officers from Oxley Police District attended and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, about 11.45am today (Thursday 20 June 2019) a 15-year-old boy was arrested in Bourne Street, West Tamworth, after a short foot pursuit.

He was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with aggravated break, enter and steal, aggravated break and enter – commit serious indictable offence, aggravated indecent assault and breach of bail.

He was also charged with a further count of aggravated break and enter – commit SIO in relation to an unrelated matter.

The boy was bail refused and will appear in a children's court today.
