Secretary Blinken speaks with Moroccan Foreign Minister Bourita

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke today with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita to review regional and global developments and emphasize his ongoing commitment to further strengthening the U.S.-Morocco bilateral security and economic partnership. The Secretary lauded King Mohamed VI's crucial voice in advancing regional peace and his leadership in promoting a secure and prosperous future for Israelis and Palestinians. Secretary Blinken and Foreign Minister Bourita discussed the importance of the Negev Forum. They also affirmed the importance of full adherence to the recent ceasefire in Israel and Gaza. The Secretary discussed Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine and the need to advance a solution to the conflict in Syria that is consistent with UNSCR 2254. Secretary Blinken affirmed full U.S. support for UN Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General Staffan de Mistura as he intensifies the UN process on Western Sahara toward an enduring and dignified political solution for the people of Western Sahara and the region.
