Council of Europe Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić today met the Attorney General of the United Kingdom, the Rt Hon Victoria Prentis MP.
The Council of Europe's support for Ukraine was a central feature of their discussion. Both the Attorney General and the Secretary General agreed on the importance of ensuring accountability and securing justice for victims in the context of Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
The Secretary General took the opportunity to welcome the United Kingdom's commitment to the European Convention on Human Rights and the ongoing co-operation between the UK authorities and the Council of Europe. She also stressed the importance of continued dialogue in the context of the UK's ongoing review of the Human Rights Act and proposed Bill of Rights.
