On September 24, 2020, at about 9:55 pm, as a result of the vigilance of staff members, an unmanned air vehicle was observed within the perimeter of Collins Bay Institution. A package containing contraband was subsequently seized from the medium security yard.
The contraband seized included tobacco and drugs. The total estimated institutional value of this seizure is $89,185.
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is heightening measures to prevent contraband from entering its institutions in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone. CSC also works in partnership with the police to take action against those who attempt to introduce contraband into correctional institutions.
