Kiama Municipal Council is delighted that SENTRAL Youth Service has been recognised as a finalist in the NSW Local Government Excellence Awards.

SENTRAL has been chosen as a finalist in the category of Community Development (population under 100,000).

Youth led and community strong, SENTRAL has been operating for more than three decades in the Hindmarsh Park Heritage Cottages to meet the needs of young people aged 12-25 in our Local Government Area.

SENTRAL provides a safe and supportive environment for young people to meet up, develop friendships, build knowledge, increase confidence and engage in social, educational, and recreational activities.

Kiama Mayor Cameron McDonald said SENTRAL thoroughly deserved to be named as a finalist.

"We are proud of the work that SENTRAL does for young people in our community," he said.

"On behalf of Council, I congratulate our hard-working SENTRAL staff on this tremendous achievement."

The LG Awards Dinner is a night of celebration which acknowledges the hard work and impact that drives local government forward across the state.

Winners and Highly Commended will be named in 14 categories at the awards ceremony, which will be held on 4 June at Royal Randwick Racecourse.
