The Albanese and Palaszczuk governments along with the Council of Mayors South East Queensland (SEQ) have today released the South East Queensland (SEQ) City Deal Implementation Plan - a joint pathway to deliver $1.8 billion worth of projects to support one of the fastest growing regions in the country.
The Deal will deliver a lasting legacy for South East Queensland with a significant package of initiatives generating thousands of local jobs, boosting digital and transport connectivity, supporting the local environment, enhancing liveability and creating thriving communities.
The Deal will help one of Australia's fastest growing regions cater for its booming population and complement investment in the world's biggest sporting event - the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The launch of the Implementation Plan enables key projects in the Deal to progress to their next phases, including:
- The $285.8 million SEQ Liveability Fund to deliver projects that support liveable and healthy communities;
- The $105 million resource recovery infrastructure to progress the region to a circular economy;
- $70 million for telecommunications infrastructure and improved digital connectivity;
- $40 million for Resilient Rivers to improve the health of the region's waterways, rivers and Moreton Bay
- $45 million for infrastructure in the Loganlea-Meadowbrook Precinct.
The Implementation Plan provides detail on how all commitments will support high-quality connectivity and community infrastructure to create a sustainable region that is connected locally and competing globally.
