Police are currently at the scene of a residence in The Gap following reports of a serious assault this morning, Queensland Police say.
At 6.45am, police were called to an address on Ridgeway Street.
When police arrived they located an infant with critical facial injuries who was subsequently transported to hospital.
A 64-year-old woman is currently assisting police with their inquiries.
The woman and the infant are known to each other.
Investigations are continuing.
