Serious assault police charge in Nerang, QLD

Police have charged a man after attending a disturbance in Nerang last night, Queensland Police say.

Officers were called to an address on Nerang River Drive at 7.15pm following reports of a disturbance.

It will be alleged that as officers identified themselves and entered the address, a man became aggressive towards the officers.

It will be further alleged that attempts to calm the man down have failed, and as officers have attempted to restrain the man, he spat in one of the officers faces.

The male Senior Constable was provided first aid at the scene and will undergo disease testing.

A 24-year-old Nerang man has been charged with one count each of serious assault police and obstruct police and is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on June 30.
