Serious assault police in Garbutt, QLD

A 42-year-old man has been charged after a police officer was kicked in the head several times in Garbutt this afternoon, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged at 5pm, police responded to a domestic incident in West End and located a man alleged to be involved in the domestic incident on Ingham Road.

Police arrested the man and were attempting to place the man in the rear of a marked van when he allegedly became violent and kicked a male Constable in the head and chest several times.

A female Constable successfully deployed her taser and the man was then transported to the Townsville Police Station.

The male Constable was transported to Townsville Hospital for assessment.

A 42-year-old Townsville man has been charged with one count of breach a domestic violence order and two counts of serious assault police. He will appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court today, March 14.
