Serious assault police in Lockhart River, QLD

Police have charged a man following the alleged assault of two police officers in Lockhart River on Monday, Queensland Police say.

At about 11am officers attended an address on Blady Glass Street following reports of a man causing a disturbance.

When police approached the man, it is alleged he punched a 49-year-old male officer in the face multiple times.

A 22-year-old female officer attempted to restrain the man and after a brief struggle he fled the scene.

Both officers received treatment at a nearby medical centre as a result of the incident.

A 20-year-old Lockhart man has since been charged with two counts of serious assault police and two counts of obstruct police.

He is due to appear in Lockhart River Magistrates Court on October 17.
