Serious assaults at Sturt, South Australia

Two people are in hospital with stab wounds following an incident at Sturt early this morning.

Initial information is that a violent altercation involving a group of between three and five men occurred on Parkmore Terrace, Sturt about 12.40am on Thursday 19 August.

Police were called to a nearby property on Travers Street, Sturt about 2.15am after the resident alerted police to a man curled up on the doorstep of his home.

Southern District patrols arrived and located a man with multiple stab wounds to his torso. The 26-year-old man from Christies Downs was taken to Flinders Medical Centre with critical injuries where he is currently being treated.

A 26-year-old woman from Seacombe Gardens was located on Parkmore Avenue with a laceration to her face. She was conveyed to Flinders Medical Centre with non-life threatening injuries and will undergo surgery.

A witness reported seeing two men of Caucasian appearance in dark clothing in a white Commodore on Grandview Avenue around the time of the assaults and police would like to speak to these men.

Crime scene investigators attended and Southern District CIB Detectives are investigating.
