Serious domestic violence charges at Rockhampton

A man has been charged following a serious domestic violence incident in Frenchville this morning (August 19).

Around 2am officers responded to reports a woman had been attacked at an address.

Shortly afterwards police noticed a vehicle allegedly driving dangerously on Emu Park Road towards Rockhampton.

A short pursuit was authorised, however abandoned due the vehicle's speed increasing.

The vehicle was then observed travelling outside the Rockhampton Police Station before continuing to the Rockhampton Hospital. There, it will be further alleged the driver exited the vehicle and threatened security staff.

A 46-year-old Rockhampton man has been charged with one count each of strangulation in domestic relationship, common assault in domestic violence, kidnapping domestic violence offence, contravene a domestic violence order, assault occasioning bodily harm, enter dwelling with intent, dangerous operation of a vehicle and evade police.

He is due to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court today.
