Serious Injury Outcome Indicators: 2000-2024

26 November 2025: Due to data processing issues, the release of the work-related injury targets at a glance tables has been delayed. We are aiming to publish these tables in the next month and will update customers once we have an exact date.

Serious injury outcome indicators present the annual number and rate of serious injury outcomes in New Zealand, through a set of indicators for fatal and non-fatal injuries.

Data note

Revisions to fatal drowning injuries data made outside the usual revision period reflect quality updates provided by Water Safety New Zealand.

Age-standardised rates in this release have been revised from 2018 onwards to reflect revisions made to the Household Labour Force Survey (HLFS) using the 2023 national population estimates. Household Labour Force Survey population rebase from 2023 estimated resident population has more information about the rebase process.
