Serious traffic crash in Collinsville, QLD

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating following a serious traffic crash involving two vehicles on Bowen Developmental Road between Collinsville and Glenden this morning, Queensland Police say.

Initial investigations indicate at around 8.30am a car travelling southbound collided with a utility travelling northbound.

The driver of the southbound vehicle, a 49-year-old man from Albany Creek, has been transported to Mackay Base Hospital with life threatening injuries.

The driver of the northbound vehicle, a 55-year-old man from Bowen, has been transported to Bowen Base Hospital with minor injuries.

Traffic control at Bowen Developmental Road is currently in place, with the road expected to fully reopen within the next couple of hours.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing.
