The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of a serious traffic incident at Palm Cove overnight resulting in a 17-year-old boy sustaining severe head injuries, Queensland Police say.
Initial inquiries indicate around 10.10pm, the teenage boy was riding a bicycle on Deep Acres Drive next to a Toyota Aurion sedan.
The boy was holding onto the vehicle as it travelled near Argentea Boulevard when he fell, landing heavily and striking his head on the road.
The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old man, is known to the boy.
The boy was taken to Cairns Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Investigations are continuing.
