Police are investigating after a bicycle rider was located injured in South Brisbane this morning, Queensland Police say.
Preliminary investigations suggest that around 3am, a 30-year-old East Brisbane man was cycling along Vulture Street when he has come off his bike near Besant Street.
A member of the public found the rider and called an ambulance.
He was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he remains in a critical condition with serious internal head injuries.
Police had initial suspicions that the man may have been hit by a car, however an examination of the bike and medical advice regarding the man’s injuries now indicate that this is probably not the case.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage is urged to contact police.
