Service NSW staff in Newcastle have reached into their pockets and wardrobes to support a charity focused on helping disadvantaged women gain employment.
Service NSW has partnered with Dress for Success which empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional clothing and the development tools to help women secure work.
Newcastle came out on top for the most donations statewide - 1000 of 6000 items such as clothes, shoes and toiletries were generously given to charity recently.
Service NSW Chief Executive Damon Rees has applauded staff for getting involved and said the donations will make a real difference.
"I know I speak on behalf of everyone at Service NSW when I say how proud and privileged we feel to provide some help for people in their time of need, from women returning to the workplace to families facing financial difficulty," Mr Rees said.
"We want to help disadvantaged women build their confidence and achieve self-sufficiency and financial independence."
Across the state, $9,500 was also raised by staff who took part in the Empower Hour campaign, which encouraged employees to donate an hour of their pay to charity.
Mr Rees added: "A special thanks goes to our staff at the Newcastle Contact Centre who collected an impressive 1000 items between them. What a great effort."
"I've been really moved by the support shown by Service NSW staff and I hope these contributions will help empower women in need."
