SES clarification on Central Coast flood management meeting

NSW SES

The NSW SES has issued a media statement in relation to the Central Coast flood management meeting.

"Contrary to claims recently made, the NSW SES confirms it did issue evacuation warnings and orders around Tuggerah Lake on the SES website, social media and to the local broadcast media, in accordance with our standard operating procedures.

The NSW SES acknowledges there was an issue in that an additional SMS evacuation message was not sent. The NSW SES is reviewing its processes and procedures to ensure this is properly addressed.

The NSW SES also has no control over telecommunication systems.

Community Action Teams play a key role in education, preparation and protection measures for local communities, including sandbagging, tarping and assisting with warnings. Contrary to claims recently made, Community Action Teams are not established for the sole purpose of addressing telecommunication failures. "
