Sexual assault outside Flinders Street Railway Station

Transit Police are hoping to identify a man following a sexual assault in Melbourne earlier this month.

A woman was walking along St Kilda Road outside Flinders Street Railway Station when the incident occurred just after 11.20pm on Wednesday 2 September.

Investigators believe a man, who was sitting on the steps at the station, approached the victim and asked for the time.

The victim answered the offender and continued walking.

The offender then followed the victim asking sexual questions before he sexually assaulted her.

Investigators have released CCTV of a man they believe can assist with their enquiries.

The male is perceived to be Caucasian, tall with a slim build and short black hair.

He was wearing a black hooded top, black pants, tan work boots and a disposable facemask.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
